Production Shuts Down Sunday in the Park with George Recasting Rumors

Ariana Grande fans can breathe a sigh of relief. Rumors had been swirling wildly across social media that the 32-year-old pop star was being recast in the highly anticipated upcoming London production of Sunday in the Park with George. Speculation spiked after ticket sales for the West End musical were unexpectedly delayed, leading anxious fans to worry that Grande was dropping out of the show, which she was first announced to lead back in January alongside her Wicked co-star Jonathan Bailey.
Fortunately, the production’s official social media accounts stepped in on Wednesday to completely shut down the internet gossip. Sharing a photo of Grande illuminating the stage during a stop on her Eternal Sunshine Tour, the show captioned the post with an iconic Stephen Sondheim quote: "‘Only way to make a work of art.’ Our Dot is putting it together on The Eternal Sunshine Tour. That’s what counts." With her leading role firmly locked in, theatre lovers can look forward to seeing Grande and Bailey take the stage at the Barbican Centre in 2027, with tickets slated to go on sale this fall.
Cate Blanchett Set to Teach at Oxford University
Cate Blanchett is trading the red carpet for the lecture hall. The two-time Academy Award winner has officially been named the new Cameron Mackintosh Visiting Professor of Contemporary Theatre at the University of Oxford. Throughout the 2026/27 academic year, the acclaimed Australian actress and producer will be stationed at St Catherine's College, where she will deliver a series of lectures and engage in direct workshops with students and the wider university community. Blanchett joins an elite lineage of theatrical royalty to hold the prestigious post since its inception in 1990, including Sir Ian McKellen, Dame Meera Syal, and Dame Diana Rigg.
The star expressed her immense excitement for the academic gig, stating that she is "looking forward to beginning this creative rumpus." Blanchett emphasized that the role is an "electrifying opportunity" to spark a robust creative dialogue with the next generation of thinkers, adding that art is crucial for breaking down the boundaries of our imagination. Legendary theatrical producer Sir Cameron Mackintosh, who originally funded the professorship, shared that he is absolutely "thrilled" to have her on board, noting that Blanchett's unparalleled career across stage and screen will serve as a massive inspiration to the Oxford student body this fall.

Katy Perry Channels Her Inner Dark Side with New Single "Watch It Burn"

Katy Perry is back with a darker sound. She’s announced her new single, “Watch It Burn,” due June 25, along with dramatic cover art and a cryptic post teasing the release. In a recent interview, Perry said the song reflects the anger she has spent much of her life suppressing and that she used the studio to process a particularly difficult year.
Rather than leaning into self-pity, Perry said she chose to face those emotions head-on and turn them into music. She described the track as a rawer, more emotional direction, saying she wanted to feel the anger, learn from it, and let it out through the song.
