New Music: Beyoncé’s surprise song, Suki Waterhouse’s latest LP
Plus, Malcolm Todd's new song

Beyoncé—”Morning Dew (Donk)”
Beyoncé surprise-released “Morning Dew” to celebrate the 20th anniversary of her second studio album, B’Day.
This honestly only fuels more discussion about what Beyoncé’s next album could look like. Fans have been eagerly anticipating Act III, the final installment in Beyoncé’s multi Grammy-winning Renaissance trilogy. Rumors have been swirling that the album will be a tribute to rock music. Could be a fun direction for her.
But there’s still no clear sign of Act III, so for now, this song is all we have. It's anyone's guess how long the wait will be.
Kelela, PinkPantheress—”The Bridge”
Kelela and PinkPantheress have teamed up for their new single, “The Bridge.” The song is super laid-back and feels a little different for PinkPantheress. It still has a beat that carries her signature personality, though. We can definitely see ourselves chilling to it. The song appears on Kelela's new album, New Avatar, released today.

Suki Waterhouse artwork for “Loveland”
Suki Waterhouse—”Loveland” (Album)
Suki Waterhouse has a very precise Fleetwood Mac-meets-‘70s approach to her music that’s consistently enjoyable. Loveland steps further into this sonic lane, making it impossible to dismiss Waterhouse as anything less than a confident, fully realized artist. This is a singer at the top of her game.
The album begins with “Back in Love,” a hazy, groove-driven opener that sees Waterhouse embracing the feeling its title spells out. The song has that feeling of kicking your feet in Midtown and letting the world pass by. “Any Man” is all swagger, with her confidently insisting she can have any man she desires.
It appears “Notting Hill” is being lined up as the next single, at least judging by Spotify’s playlist rollout. We think “Teardrops” has all the makings of a more effective single.
“Weirdo” is basically a cute little love song for her partner Robert Pattinson. “You’re on the phone, making us laugh/Sometimes that makes me really sad/Our daughter misses her dad/I count the days until you come back,” she sings. Pattinson’s acting career keeps him on the move, so it’s not hard to imagine long stretches apart inspiring a song like this. We think the world she’s built here is pretty great. Still, the strongest song remains the opening track.
Malcolm Todd—”I Just Got Mad”
The recent chart-topping singer released his new song “I Just Got Mad” shortly after dropping his album in June. Unfortunately, this one feels a bit too juvenile, almost like a children’s rhyme, and doesn’t come anywhere near the quality of “Do That Again.” We’re not entirely sure what the strategy behind this release is, considering “Earrings” is still doing well on Spotify. Sometimes artists try to capitalize on momentum and end up choosing the wrong move.
Role Model—”Joy”
Continuing the rollout for Chuck Timely & The Hourglass, Role Model has dropped the album’s next single.
“Joy” might have benefited from a title that better captures what the song is doing. We don’t really understand the recent trend of artists avoiding using the chorus as the title. That’s usually how people find and search for a song.
But this song is still a lot of fun and feels very true to Role Model. It’s the kind of track that arrives right as summer is at its peak.
