Cynthia Erivo protects Ariana Grande from Wicked Premiere Attendee in Singapore

Ariana Grande’s Wicked: For Good world tour premiere in Singapore took an unexpected turn on Thursday when a fan unexpectedly rushed the yellow carpet and embraced the singer. The 31-year-old pop star, who plays Glinda in the eagerly awaited musical film, was happily posing for photos alongside co-stars Cynthia Erivo, Michelle Yeoh, and Jeff Goldblum when the man quickly approached her and gently pulled her close.

Erivo, who stars as Elphaba, swiftly stepped in to shield her, softly speaking and waving her arms to keep the man away until security arrived. Grande looked a bit shaken but was warmly comforted by her castmates. The man, known online as Johnson Wen, known as “Pyjama Man” for his past involvement in celebrity event disruptions, later shared a video of the moment, expressing his thanks to Grande “for letting me jump on the yellow carpet.” Wen has previously interrupted performances by Katy Perry and The Weeknd.

Lady Gaga Named Rolling Stone’s “Voice of the Year”

Lady Gaga is closing out the year in true superstar fashion, as Rolling Stone’s newly crowned “Voice of the Year.” The honor arrives just days after her seventh album, MAYHEM, scored seven Grammy nominations, marking yet another milestone in the singer’s storied career.

In the magazine’s cover story, her fourth time fronting Rolling Stone, Gaga gets candid about the darker moments behind her success, revealing that she was taking lithium during the filming of A Star Is Born and suffered a “psychotic break” that led to the abrupt end of her Joanne World Tour. The pop icon also shared that she and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, plan to marry soon, potentially during or right after her MAYHEM Ball tour. Polansky also revealed Gaga’s latest venture: co-founding the skin-health research firm Outer Biosciences. The interview sees Gaga reflecting on her career highs and controversies, from the misunderstood brilliance of ARTPOP to the backlash surrounding Joker: Folie à Deux.

Sabrina Carpenter Plunges Into Wonderland for New Universal Musical

Pop’s reigning it-girl, Sabrina Carpenter, is taking her chart-topping momentum to the big screen, signing on to lead and produce a new musical inspired by Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland for Universal Pictures. The film will be written and directed by Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), marking Carpenter’s first major studio lead role and her first return to film since her Grammy-nominated album Short n’ Sweet turned her into a global pop phenomenon.

The project comes hot on the heels of Carpenter’s six Grammy nominations for her latest album, Man’s Best Friend, including Album of the Year and Record of the Year. Produced alongside Marc Platt (La La Land) and Alloy Entertainment, the untitled film promises to merge Carpenter’s two worlds, music and performance, into a vibrant, surreal reimagining of Carroll’s classic tale. Sources say the project originated with Carpenter herself, who first pitched the concept to Universal in 2024 before Scafaria joined to bring her vision to life.

POP FACT: On this day in 1998, Miss Lauryn Hill topped the Billboard Hot 100 with “Doo Wop (That Thing).” She became the first female solo rap artist to top the Hot 100 chart without a guest feature.

Best New Track: Dopamine by Robyn

We’re in the corner…

Robyn released her new song “Dopamine” this week. Her first in seven years.

Feeling it right after that first kiss on the dance floor? These lights are blue and the lasers are streaking across the room. They trace the heart on your sleeve. Jump, trip, fall and get lost in the craze.

I know it’s just dopamine / But it feels so real to me,” Robyn sings. At its best, the song feels electric, pulsing just like a heart. We don’t think it’s exaggerated to say it actually rushes like a hit of dopamine. Especially around the 2:50 minute mark.

We’re taking the weekend off just to dance to this one. Call us Monday.
