THE BLACK LABEL’s girl group MEOVV made their comeback on October 12 with their single album “GO HARD”, marking another step in their journey as artists. Since their debut in 2024, the five-member group has continued to develop their sound and performance style, building their identity through powerful stages and a willingness to explore new creative directions.
With “GO HARD”, MEOVV delivers a message of determination, self-belief, and pushing forward in the face of challenges. The release also highlights the members’ growing involvement in the creative process, with some contributing to the songwriting and helping shape the group’s musical direction.
In this interview with Pop Base, MEOVV opened up about the message behind “GO HARD”, their creative contributions to the single album, and how they have grown as a group since their debut. The members also reflected on their experience performing at KCON LA, shared their hopes for future activities, and revealed what they would love to explore next as artists.
POP BASE: Hello MEOVV! Your new single album “GO HARD” is all about pushing forward and believing in yourself. What message do you hope listeners take away from this release, especially when they're going through a difficult time?
NARIN: Hi Pop Base! One of the sayings we have among the members is, "If we're going to do something, we're going to do it right!" With “GO HARD”, we wanted to share that message of giving it our all and pushing through whatever challenges come our way, in our own way. It's a song about youth, but not just for those who are young in age. I hope this single album can empower everyone who's working hard and striving to move forward in their own way. Keep going!!
POP BASE: What aspects of the creative process were you involved in, and how did you contribute your own ideas to shaping the album?
GAWON: I’m involved in a little bit of everything. The creative process behind a MEOVV release involves so much communication and collaboration with our team, so I try to share my input wherever and whenever I can. I’m a very detail-oriented person, so I pay attention to the smaller elements across different aspects of a release, whether it’s the visuals, concept, or activities. I think it’s all these little details coming together that shape the final result and make the entire project feel cohesive. I learn something new with every release, and I try to apply those lessons to the next one so that I can contribute more meaningfully and continue elevating the quality of our work. It’s always a valuable experience to see how everyone’s ideas come together to create something that truly represents MEOVV as a team.
POP BASE: Some members participated in writing the lyrics for “GO HARD”. What was that songwriting experience like for you?
ANNA: I participated in writing the lyrics for both “GO HARD” and “Indestructible”!! I put a lot of thought into how to express my own ideas while finding the right words that would also reflect MEOVV's identity. It was such a fun and meaningful experience, and I learned a lot from exchanging ideas with the producers and members throughout the process!
POP BASE: Since debuting in 2024, you've continued to develop your sound and performance style. What do you think has changed the most about MEOVV since your debut?
SOOIN: We've been constantly challenging ourselves to deliver new and more iconic performances. It can be exhausting at times, but pushing ourselves has really helped us build our strength compared to when we first debuted! We've also become better at staying focused during practices, and I think our performances have become much more in sync as a team. We'll keep pushing ourselves to show our passion and spirit through even more unforgettable performances. We want to keep evolving into a version of MEOVV that's always bringing something new and iconic – something that stays with you long after you've seen us perform!
POP BASE: After performing at KCON LA this year and meeting your American fans in person, what was the most memorable part of the experience?
ELLA: Honestly, just the energy of performing in front of audiences from where I’m from was so amazing and memorable! It felt a bit more personal and I cannot wait to be back hopefully soon!
POP BASE: Looking ahead, is there anything each of you would love to explore or try as part of MEOVV's future activities?
SOOIN: I really want to cook for our fans because I'm so grateful for them and love them so much! Just like how we always want to give PAWMPAWMs amazing music, I'd love to prepare a warm, home-cooked meal for them as another way of showing how much they mean to me.
GAWON: Musically, I’d love for us to continue exploring different genres and sounds while developing an identity that people can immediately recognize as MEOVV. I think it would be exciting to experiment with genres we haven’t explored yet and discover new sides of ourselves as artists. The same goes for fashion. I’m always saving ideas and reference photos for visual concepts that we would love to try, so I’m excited to keep bringing those ideas to the table and see how we can bring them to life.
ANNA: I'd love to explore concepts we've never tried before! I hope we can keep challenging ourselves, not just musically, but also by experimenting with new outfits, hairstyles, and different looks. I want us to keep showing new sides of MEOVV so that everyone will always be excited to see what we do next!
NARIN: I’d love to GO HARDER and keep exploring different sounds and styles that we haven’t tried before, and just keep surprising people. I also have a lot of things I want to do with my fans, and these days I really want to create something with our fans, like a playlist so that we can exchange songs and get to know each other’s taste in music.
ELLA: I am super excited for when we are able to do a world tour and meet all of our fans around the world.
