Favorite New Music This Week

With Christmas approaching, K-pop holiday releases are in full swing, and DAY6’s “Lovin’ the Christmas” stands out as a warm, melodic highlight. Sungjin, Young K, and Wonpil, who were all involved in the songwriting process, craft a track that captures the season’s joy without excess sentiment.

Lines like “A smile slips out for no reason / I was sure I hated this time of year” show a shift from indifference to delight, while the chorus, “I think I'm fallin' in love with Christmas / Because love is overflowing”, conveys the magic and warmth of the holiday. Vintage Motown-inspired instrumentation blends with bright melodies, making the song inviting and replayable.

Overall, “Lovin’ the Christmas” stands out as a modern holiday song that feels sincere, cohesive, and well-suited to DAY6’s musical identity.
