“KPop Demon Hunters” Blocked From BAFTA Eligibility Despite Netflix Push

Despite its global success and record-breaking performance on Netflix, “KPop Demon Hunters” has been ruled ineligible for the BAFTA Film Awards.

The film debuted on Netflix in the UK on June 20, and Netflix attempted to secure eligibility by giving it limited theatrical runs in August and again over Halloween weekend. BAFTA, however, upheld its rules and denied the request for an exception.

The movie remains eligible for the Oscars but will not compete at the British Academy Awards.

New Jeans Returns to ADOR After Losing Court Case

On Thursday, HYBE subsidiary ADOR announced that New Jeans members Haerin and Hyein will officially return to the label. In its statement, the company explained that the two youngest members “expressed their intent to continue their activities with ADOR” and, after discussions with their families, chose to respect the court’s ruling and uphold their exclusive contracts. ADOR also asked fans to continue supporting the members as they resume activities.

Two hours and 30 minutes later, the remaining members, Minji, Danielle, and Hanni, issued their own unilateral statement confirming their return. They stated that the announcement was delayed because “one member is currently in Antarctica,” and claimed they released a separate post because ADOR had not responded to them.

Former ADOR CEO Min Hee Jin also commented, praising the members’ “courage” and emphasizing that “New Jeans must be kept intact as five members.” As of now, ADOR has not released an official response regarding the three members’ return.

Favorite New Music This Week

ITZY’s “Tunnel Vision” EP stands out as the group’s most sonically unified release since “Guess Who?”, offering a tight, thoughtfully arranged track list that plays to their strengths.

The opener “Focus” immediately hooks you with a polished intro that sets the tone. “Tunnel Vision” showcases their signature charisma and tight vocal layering, delivering a confident, polished title track. While not their boldest, it’s a catchy, stylish, and enjoyable addition to their discography.

The midsection, “DYT” and “Flicker,” keeps the momentum with strong verses and thematic cohesion. The EP shines brightest in its latter half: “Nocturne” beautifully showcases the members’ underrated vocals, while “8-bit heart” emerges as a playful, experimental standout and one of their best B-sides yet.

Overall, “Tunnel Vision” is one of ITZY’s strongest and most consistent bodies of work.
