NewJeans is not the only K-pop girl group that has parted ways with their agency recently. On November 29, Loosemble and fromis_9 both announced their departure from CTDENM and PLEDIS Entertainment, respectively.
CTDENM released an official statement explaining that their contracts with the five members of Loosemble had already come to a conclusion.
“We would like to thank you for your precious love and support for the Loossemble members (HyunJin, YeoJin, ViVi, Go Won, and HyeJu). We are informing you that our exclusive contracts with Loossemble, who have been journeying together with us, have ended,” the statement reads.
“We sincerely thank the Loossemble members, who have shared a meaningful journey together with CTDENM, and we will be rooting for the Loossemble members’ radiant journey in the future. Thank you,” the agency added.
The members of Loosemble, who all used to be a part of the 12-member girl group LOONA, joined CTDENM in 2023. It is an agency founded by a former employee of LOONA’s previous agency, Blockberry Creative.
Meanwhile, PLEDIS Entertainment also issued an announcement of a similar nature, declaring that their exclusive contract with fromis_9 is set to expire by the end of the year.
“We discussed at length and in depth with the members of fromis_9 regarding each member’s future and direction and have come to an amicable conclusion to end the exclusive artist contract.”
Before they bid their fans goodbye, however, the group is set to release a fan song on December 23 as an “expression of their gratitude for their fandom flover.” PLEDIS also assured the fans that the group would still attend other activities and engagements that had been scheduled for the year.
“Thank you fans once again, for always being with fromis_9. Please continue to send fromis_9 your unwavering love and support,” noted PLEDIS.
The agency also expressed their appreciation towards the members of the group. “We would also like to thank fromis_9 who have always put their best foot forward and shown us a wide spectrum of different charms over the past seven years.”
“We wholeheartedly support the future endeavors of fromis_9,” they added.
fromis_9 was formed in a survival game show Idol School and debuted in 2018 under Off The Record Entertainment. In 2021, they transferred to PLEDIS Entertainment, where they remained until their recent departure.
