Ethel Cain sparks controversy for #KillMoreCEOs hashtag

Ethel Cain, a singer recognized for her musical talent and provocative views, shared an Instagram story with the hashtag “#KillMoreCEOs.”

The hashtag was posted alongside a quote from the former U.S. Secretary of Labor Robert Reich. “Big Oil buys off Congress. No action on climate. The NRA buys off Congress. No action on guns. Insurance companies buy off Congress. No action on health care. The list goes on and on. Money in politics is the root of our dysfunction,” the post read.

In a follow-up story, Cain asserted that her goal was not to be reactionary, or edgy, nor was it posted merely for shock value.

“I genuinely mean what I say,” she said. “It’s simple, you make them fear for their lives and hit them in the only place they hurt or nothing will ever get done.”

The 26-year-old musician explained that she views this as the only viable solution capable of sparking change, arguing that less aggressive approaches, such as protests, are no longer sufficient.

“Corporations giggle at protesting. Why would anyone ever willingly come down off their throne that they’ve spent years building off the suffering of their fellow man?” questioned Cain.

“The world is burning and it’s very clear who’s holding the matches,” the singer wrote.
