Following the abrupt cancellation of Jimmy Kimmel Live! by ABC, Olivia Rodrigo took to social media to voice her support for Jimmy Kimmel and call out what she sees as an attack on free expression.
The pop star reposted SAG-AFTRA’s official statement condemning the decision to pull the late-night show off the air. Rodrigo then shared her own thoughts in the caption, writing, “[I am] so upset over this blatant censorship and abuse of power. I stand with Jimmy Kimmel and I stand for freedom of speech.”
Rodrigo is far from alone in her stance. Several other celebrities including Stephen Colbert, Seth Meyers, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Stewart, and Bill Maher have all publicly defended Kimmel in the wake of the show’s suspension.
